Abu Nugar
This reef is one of the most northern dive sites of Hurghada, reaching almost the area of El Gouna. Here, many ergs are to be found and a main reef famous for its variety of hard corals. Fish-life lovers might not be fully satisfied when comes to fish life here, however, the fabulous table corals will for sure compensate for it. The sand on the bottom of this site is covered with clusters of corals. The wall of the reef and a very good visibility make this spot great for both beginners and advanced divers to have a long and lazy dives.
Dive route:
We more up the a half lagoon sheltered from the waves where the depth under the boat reaches 10 m and start our dive. We taking off and head towards the east, keeping the reef wall on our left hand side. When reaching a low coral ridge we have to overtake it in order to continue our dive on the outer reef. In this ridge we will see a hole with a sandy bottom where often one can spot a Crocoile Fish.
After reaching the outside of the reef we head north to find fantastic hard coral garden full of magnificent and huge table corals. We are diving over the garden and when turning back we hold the reef on the right hand side. We are coming back towards the boat along the wall of the reef admiring impressive growth of hard corals.
Flora & Fauna:
The number of fishes in this location is quite limited, but you can often spot here Eagle rays and occasionally a small Reef Shark. What you can find amazing here is the sensational, incredibly developed hard corals, from massive brain corals to wide plates of table corals. This place has surely an unforgettable atmosphere worth catching on the camera.
